Adding a side hustle to your art career

Did your art career start as a side hustle, and now you’re doing it full time? Remember how awesome it felt to have a side-hustle? Personally, I love diversifying my work day with different jobs. I’ve polled hundreds of artists to find some of the top jobs suited to artists.

  1. Illustrator

Sometimes this means using Etsy or other markets to sell your work. Some of my clients do this under a pseudonym so they don’t cheapen their fine art brand.

2. Graphic Design

Working in this space means using your artistic talents, which makes it an easy fit! I’ve been warned though, too many creative jobs can result in creative burnout.

3. Art instructor

If you have a talent for teaching, this job is great for you! You can share what you’ve learned in art school, or keep it fun by doing evening paint nights or weekend paint parties for kids.

4. Website designer

Artists make wonderful web designers! If you have a good eye for design, and enjoy choosing your own working hours, this is an awesome gig. Even better, this is one I can help you with!

If you have even a tiny interest in becoming a web designer, I actually have a shortcut for you. My personal website design guru Paige Brunton offers a FREE bootcamp course on starting a successful website design business - how handy is that?
